Skin Needling is a procedure that involves rolling the skin multiple times with fine micro's pricks to induce new collagen production and improve skin texture.
Skin Needling treatments are ideal for:
- Acne Scarring (especially depressed acne scars)
- Surgical Scars
- Wrinkles (especially around the mouth and crows feet)
- Improving skin texture and tightness
- Loss of skin pigment (hypo pigmentation) as a result of scarring
How does Skin Needling work?
skin Needling refers to a cutaneous procedure where a rolling hand piece is passed over the skin. The micro needles penetrate into the dermis of the skin where it triggers a cascade of factors to stimulate new collagen production and remodelling of dermal tissues.
The collagen induction is further enhanced when Vitamin A and C are applied immediately after the procedure as the channels created by the needling allow greater delivery of these vitamins into the dermis. Vitamin A and C are important antioxidants and essential in the process of collagen synthesis, collagen repair and skin remodelling. It is recommended clients start using therapeutic doses of vitamin A and C Environ skin care products for at least 1 month before treatment and continue after the treatment.
The production of new collagen continues after the procedure. Depressed acne scars, wrinkles, skin texture and skin tightness all continue to improve over time and multiple treatments.
The method used at Beautiful Image utilises a sterile cylindrical roller with micro-needles that is rolled over the skin. This method was popularised by Dr. Des Fernandez, Environ skincare founder and also a highly regarded plastic surgeon.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments will depend on the individual collagen response. Generally speaking, you may need up to 6 treatments. Most individuals will require around 4 treatments approximately one month apart.
When should I see results?
Results are evident after a few weeks. The skin texture will continue to improve over a time.
