Myth
Smoking does not harm skin
Truth
One cigarette is believed to destroy 25milligrams of vitamin C and a healthy balanced body needs 45 milligrams of vitamin C to exist each day. This is why smokers have dull grey skin and can have pigmentation. It may be beneficial to take 1000 milligrams of Vitamin C every day to replace some of the loss caused by the smoking.
Vitamin C is essential to protect the skin from the formation of pigmentation. It is a free radical scavenger. Skin low in Vitamin C is usually very sensitive and can be very flushed on the cheeks and chin.
